Update: Gonzales was released from the Tom Green County Detention Center at 11:01 AM the same day.
Abraham Gonzales, a 24 year old teacher at Lake View High School in San Angelo was arrested this morning, March 19 2025 for the alleged crime of improper relationship between educator/staff. An investigation was started after a report on March 13 2025 was filed with the San Angelo Police Department. Details are not being released as this is an ongoing investigation. There has not yet been any press release by SAISD, they have remained silent as of posting this story.
It gets worse as during the course of the investigation, allegations surfaced that a School Resource Officer (Police Officer) was also engaged in “inappropriate communications” with this same student. This police officer is currently on administrative leave, but it was not noted whether or not your tax dollars were paying this police officer while the investigation takes place. Details are also lacking in this case as again it is an ongoing investigation.
We have reached out to various officials for comment on this story and to answer our biggest question: are tax dollars still paying this police officer’s bills? Additionally, why has an arrest warrant not been issued for this officer?
Edit: Shortly after the posting of this article, Travis Griffith Chief of Police for San Angelo held a short press conference. He reiterated most of the already publicly available information. He stated based on the evidence reviewed, the police officer’s actions were not criminal at this time in their opinion. He did not mention whether or not tax dollars were continuing to pay the salary of this officer. Chief Griffith stated outside agencies would be assisting with the investigation in addition to the internal affairs review being conducted by the San Angelo Police Department.
Edit: San Angelo ISD released a brief statement on the matter. This statement did not contain any new information.
